172: Meagan Good Steps Into The Group Chat
Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Wednesday Dec 01, 2021
Hey group chat!
This week, Chelsea shared that her man put a ring on it; Sade is still in Mexico, excuse her trash wifi; and Glynn drags her hair stylist who pushed her appointment out 3 hours and then told her she would have to pay to cancel.
Then, we talk to none other than the beautiful Meagan Good!
Meagan is the lead in Amazon’s new series Harlem from Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver, produced by Amy Poehler and Pharrell, set to premiere later this year. It follows the lives of four black women – friends from their college days at NYU – as they navigate sex, relationships and chasing their dreams in NY. Meagan plays Camille, a professor of anthropology of Sex and Love at Columbia University, who in her own life has a hard time navigating her choices.
With over 30 years in the industry, actress, producer, director and philanthropist Meagan Good has starred in numerous hit films and TV shows including Think Like a Man, Shazam! and The Intruder. Her co-directorial feature debut, If Not Now, When? was released in January and she’s currently in production on the sequel to the hit DC Comics film Shazam! where she reprises her role as Super Hero Darla. She will also star in Netflix’s Day Shift opposite Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg. Meagan is an entrepreneur and launched Good Girl Wraps, a multi-functional line of satin hair wraps. She also recently directed a music video on racial injustice for artist Diarra. She celebrated her 40th birthday in August.

170: Our Thoughts on ”Passing”
Wednesday Nov 17, 2021
Wednesday Nov 17, 2021
On this week's episode, Sade laments aboout the pains of money management, Glynn shouts out the young activists and Howard University, and Chelsea talks us through an...interesting NYTimes read about code-switching in interracial relationships.
Then the girls get into the film "Passing." In theaters and on Netflix, the film is based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen, and its title refers to African-Americans who had skin color light enough to be perceived as white, referred to as "passing." It's a complicated topic and the girls explore the historic motivations to pass, the pain it would bring, and the overall constructs of race.

169: Tia Mowry on Loving Yourself with Black Girls Texting
Wednesday Nov 10, 2021
Wednesday Nov 10, 2021
On this week's episode we discuss the tragedy that occurred at Astroworld and we are praying for everyone impacted and the lives lost ; Sade is living it up in Mexico City; Chelsea is not happy with Chanel raising the prices of their bags (its fine we buying Black anyways); and Glynn sadly couldnt make this episode as she is ramping up in a new job.
Then, Sade and Chelsea chat with Tia Mowry. Tia is a powerhouse in the wellness space. She co-founded Anser, a line of vitamins and supplements, in January 2020 after struggling with health and fertility issues related to endometriosis. The journey of changing her diet, fitness, and self-care practice inspired her to start Anser. She didn’t see women of color being represented in the wellness and health industry and decided to do something about it. The line, which is now available in Target, has successfully expanded and is inspired by her goal of encouraging everyone to take charge of their health. Make sure to cop and get your mind, body, and soul right!
